Meet Captain Vic Crosby

Your Expert Guide To The Nature Coast

Welcome to Gulf Coasts Scallop Masters. I have spent the last nine years navigating the beautiful, clear shallows of Florida's Nature Coast as a professional guide. For me, being a captain is much more than just a job; it is a lifelong passion deeply rooted in the maritime trade. Spending my days on the water and sharing the unique coastal environment with others is exactly what drew me to this lifestyle. Whether we are launching into the Homosassa River or cruising the flats of Crystal River, my primary focus is ensuring that every guest feels safe, comfortable, and completely at home on the Gulf.

Over the years, the most rewarding part of my career has been watching people genuinely connect with the local ecosystem. There is a distinct magic in seeing guests look below the surface and observe underwater marine life up close in its natural habitat. We encounter a diverse range of species out on the grass beds, and pointing out those intricate details transforms a simple boat ride into a highly educational scalloping tour. Taking the time to explain the delicate balance of the seagrass meadows and the creatures that rely on them is a cornerstone of how I run my charter.

What truly sets our trips apart is this dedication to marine conservation and hands-on education. When you step onto my deck, you are an active participant in preserving the only place on the Gulf Coast that supports a thriving bay scallop population. I take great pride in teaching both beginners and seasoned locals how to properly identify, harvest, and respect the local marine life. My goal is for you to step off the docks with a deeper appreciation for the Nature Coast, knowing you spent the day with a guide who truly cares about the future of these waters.

To navigate these specialized coastal environments safely, we run a dependable 2008 G3 1860 Center Console Tunnel Hull. Powered by a reliable 90 HP engine, this 18-foot vessel is perfectly suited for gliding over the shallowest grass flats where the best scallops hide. The boat accommodates a maximum of six passengers comfortably, offering plenty of room for families and small groups to store their snorkel gear, catch bags, and coolers. Rigged with modern navigation electronics, a VHF radio, and a wireless trolling motor, the vessel provides a stable, secure platform for a smooth day of learning and gathering fresh seafood.
